We can see an increase in buyer activity during some time frames and significant slowdowns over others. Ordinarily, the holiday season spanning roughly the middle of November through the New Year is a slow time in the market. A more stagnant LBI real estate market can be attributed to a few factors such as:

  • An uptick in holiday travel among prospective buyers
  • A focus on purchasing holiday gifts rather than buying LBI real estate
  • Local real estate agents being distracted from their job thanks to holiday travel, parties, etc.

While most would agree that the holiday season is a busy time, this is not always the case in the LBI real estate market. This is not to mean that the market is dead-not at all. Simply that, due to the factors listed above, there are usually fewer shoppers this time of year. When looking to buy a home, an understanding of these cycles can be used to your advantage. There should be fewer home shoppers in the market, and that can make a seller more motivated to sell thanks to the slowdown in real estate sales and showings. When looking to purchase a home in the LBI real estate market, you may be able to justify a lower offer as you will most likely face less competition. Besides, with less competition, a seller may begin to wonder if there is a problem with the house due to low activity. This can be used to a buyer’s advantage when buying LBI real estate over the holiday season.
