Long Beach Island NJ (LBI NJ)

Long Beach Island Living

Chowderfest is back on Long Beach Island! For the first time since 2019, tasting will return to this time-honored event on LBI. For several decards, Chowderfest has marked the “end of the season” on LBI, in many ways, even more so than Labor Day Weekend. This 1-2 day event featured local restaurants cooking gallons of white (New England) or red (Manhattan) soup for visitors to taste and vote on. Sadly, COVID halted in-person tasting and the event took some time to return to Beach Haven. Now it is back with in-person tasting and it is sure to draw a crowd this year. Chowderfest weekend will be September 30th and October 1st this year with tasting taking place on the 30th. Look for live music, food, fun, and lots to see and do throughout LBI and Beach Haven!

Life on LBI-Chowderfest 2023

Chowderfest on Long Beach Island is more than just tasty soup, it, along with Kite Fest the following weekend, is the end of the season! For many second home owners on Long Beach Island, they would keep their homes open though Chowderfest and typically leave for the winter after this event concluded. Now, the dynamic of LBI has changed so the traditional end of the season may no longer be the case. It is likely that more people will continue to use their homes as has been the trend over the past few years. Regardless of what comes next, it will be a fun weekend and it is worth a visit!
