Long Beach Township

Long Beach Township is the largest of the six municipalities on Long Beach Island. Long Beach Township covers roughly 12 of the 18 developed miles on Long Beach Island and is comprised of several areas. On the north end of LBI, Long Beach Township includes Loveladies in North Beach, Long Beach Township then spans from Brant Beach to North Beach Haven, and picks up again in Holgate. With Long Beach Township covering such a significant part of LBI, is important to updated on news and events in the Township. There are a few special events all residents of Long Beach Township should be aware. They are:

Beach replenishment has been an important topic Long Beach Island for several years. Beach replenishment is a project that involves taking sand from the bottom of the ocean floor and depositing it on the beaches of LBI. This creates a stronger, and more storm ready do system and a wider beach. The Army Corps of Engineers has entertained several bids and awarded a contract to Great Leaks Dredge and Company. This company has extensive experience in beach replenishment projects and is currently establishing a starting date, which is expected to be some time in fall 2015.

The Long Beach Township recreation and special activities can be is playing another season of fun and entertainment for both residents and vacationers to Long Beach Island. The Long Beach Township website has a list of these updated services, one of which is the free shuttle service which is great success in 2014.

While Long Beach Island offers fun and excitement, it is important to remember that LBI is a barrier island and is susceptible to storm damage. Long Beach Township takes makes a great effort to ensure the safety of the area in the weather events. Long Beach Township is just issued new reentry placards for all residents of Long Beach Township. These cars are required for reentry to Long Beach Island following a mandatory evacuation. It is important to keep these cards handy so that a homeowner can return to their property after a storm.

The Beaches of Long Beach Township require Beach badges and Long Beach Township’s Beach badges are now on sale. Seasonal prices are $30 per badge if purchased before June 15 and $40 per badge if purchased after June 15. Weekly badges will cost $20 each and down badges will cost five dollars each. Senior citizens rates are five dollars each and veterans for free with proper ID.
