2013 begins with a very challenging real estate environment on Long Beach Island. Hurricane Sandy ravaged the entire coast of New Jersey and LBI was no exception. Despite sustaining an almost direct hit from the storm, Long Beach Island made tremendous strides in repairing the damage and this has been reflected in the local real estate market.   • The average price of a home was $476,250
  • The average time on the market was 107 days

While the average price is very low for the LBI real estate market, it is important to point out that both sales were made with the intention of building new homes on the lot. In essence, they were land sales rather than single family homes. The fact that new homes will be built in this place tells us that buyers are still willing to invest great sums of money in the LBI real estate market. These new homes will have a positive impact on Long Beach Island home prices.
