Things To Do When Checking Into Your LBI Rental

There a few simple steps which I recommend any tenant undertake upon checking into their Long Beach Island summer rental. They are:

  • Check for damage to the unit
  • Check the trash situation and make sure that the trash cans are placed out on the appropriate day
  • Check for beach badges if they were to be provided with your rental

My first recommendation of checking for damage is perhaps the most important. All too often, there is dirt or damage which is pre-existing, however if it was not reported to a rental agent the current tenant checking in maybe responsible for this damage. Before any bags are unpacked and anyone moves into the house, it is prudent to take 10 or 15 minutes walk through the house and notify your rental agent of any damage, excessive dirtiness, or other conditions which may result in a security hold. By immediately notifying your rental agent, you may absolve yourself of responsibility. In tandem with checking for damage to the unit, it is advisable to check the trash cans and make sure that there is ample space for your refuse. You should also check the date the trash is supposed to go to the curb to make sure it is picked up and make sure that you do not exceed the capacity of the trash cans. Lastly , if your unit was advertised to offer beach badges it is important to make sure that they are currently in the property. If they’re not, you should notify her rental agent right away so that the appropriate measures maybe taken.
