The first quarter of the 2013 was dominated by Hurricane Sandy. Sandy, which made landfall at the end of October 2012, was a major weather event that caused massive damage to the New Jersey coastline. The LBI real estate market saw a decline in activity in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, however the area and the market recovered quickly. The Surf City real estate market actually saw a strong sales quarter as Surf City Real Estate Sales in the First Quarter of 2013 were bolstered by the limited damage experienced from the storm.

Surf City Real Estate Sales in the First Quarter of 2013

Sales of single family homes in Surf City are broken down as follows:
  • Seven single family homes sold during the first quarter
  • The average sales price of a single family home was $722,800
  • On average, homes spent 173 days on the market
A grand total of just over $5,000,000 worth of real estate sold during the first quarter in Surf City. A few storm damaged homes sold which will make way for new construction. Of the seven single family homes to sell, only one traded over the $1,000,000 mark. The least expensive home to sell was 106 E 22nd Street which was a four bedroom, two bathroom home selling for $430,000. The most expensive home to sell was 307 N. Ocean which was a four bedroom, two bathroom home selling for $1,480,000. While confidence in the LBI real estate market was shaken as a result of Hurricane Sandy, Surf City actually drew in new buyers thanks to the beach replenishment limited the damage caused by the storm.
