Long Beach Island Real Estate

There is no doubt that Long Beach Island has some of the best beaches around (as proven by many recent polls). The beaches of LBI are clean, safe, and well maintained, making them a popular family destination. Long Beach Island has a lot to do besides just the beaches, though.

Things to Do on Long Beach Island (besides going to the beach)

While everyone will have their special memory or tradition on LBI, here are some of my suggestions:

Visit the Barnegat Lighthouse: There is a lot to do here. You can climb the lighthouse itself, walk along the inlet or tour a coastal forest (one of my favorite parts actually)
Watch a sunset: This is rather obvious, and all you have to do is walk to the end of a street. Try different spots along the bayside of LBI to see different views and scenery.

Sunset cruise: On that trend, there are boats in Beach Haven and Barnegat Light that offer sunset cruises in season. These are a lot of fun and provide a whole new perspective.

Schooner’s Wharf/Bay Village: These are the main shopping areas in Beach Haven and a great sunny or rainy day activity. There is a mix of stores and eateries, mostly outside.

Mini-golf: There are many golf courses all over LBI, and they are a family favorite for things to do.

Dining out: Of course, there are plenty of places to eat on LBI as well. Plenty of options and price points (more on that in a different post)

The sky at night: Take a walk on the beach after dark. You will see beautiful starscapes and even the Milky Way Galaxy if there are not too many background lights.

Ride a bike: You can buy or rent a bike on LBI and take a casual tour of the LBI. There are plenty of “backroads” that make this a low-key and safe activity. Try Bayview Drive in Barnegat Light, West Ave in Beach Haven, or Beach Ave in the Long Beach Township.

Ice cream: Plenty of options here as well all over Long Beach Island. Get a cone or a cup, and watch the sunset for a fun night!

Crabbing or Claming: Barnegat Bay has lots of both. You can crab at the end of any public street or go clamming with your toes in the open bay. It is a lot of fun to catch and then cook your seafood dinner!

Rent a boat/kayak/SUP: There are several boat rentals throughout LBI, and this can be a fun way to spend the day on the open bay touring the area and the local Islands.

Visit the mainland: Stafford Township and the surrounding area have a lot to offer. The Pine Barrens is a magical place, and there are some fun things to do in the area. Visit Tuckerton (there is even a boat that takes you from Beach Haven to Tuckerton), visit Smithville’s historic town, or take a walk in the woods.

Parks and Playgrounds: Many of these to be found all over LBI. Several are right on the bayfront, and they are generally well maintained and offer a lot of fun.

Visit Holgate: The very south end of LBI offers a view into the past of what a barrier island used to look like. You can see all kinds of birds and wildlife depending on the time of year and a clear Atlantic City view, especially at night.

However you choose to spend your day, there are plenty of options to enjoy all that LBI offers. Get out and have some fun! If you have any questions about buyingselling or investing in the LBI real estate market, please do not hesitate to contact me.
