It is now a known fact that Hurricane Sandy will go down in history as one of, if not the worst, weather events to hit the northeast. The sheer size and power of the storm have been unmistakable and the devastation wrought by a 1,000-mile wide storm is lost on no one.  The major concerns from Hurricane Sandy on Long Beach Island NJ were:

  • Wind Damage from Hurricane Sandy

  • Damage From Trash and Rubish

Long Beach Island NJ was not sparred damage from this "superstorm". Hurricane Sandy brought a storm surge that created a measured 5-6 feet of water in Beach Haven.

Long Beach Island experience major power outages and lost water supplies. For those on Long Beach Island who chose not to leave, conditions will be difficult, to say the least. Sand has covered the roads making travel near impossible and serious damage was brought to the main bridge.

As bad as the damage from Hurricane Sandy on Long Beach Island NJ was, it is not the first time Long Beach Island has experienced a serious weather condition. The famous "Storm of 62" brought similar damage to the LBI area devastating homes and businesses on Long Beach Island. LBI will rebuild and move forward in time. The damage will be repaired and Long Beach Island will be open for business in no time thanks to the brave efforts of fire, police, EMS, utility companies, and the Long Beach Island residents themselves!
