It is now a known fact that Hurricane Sandy will go down in history as one of, if not the worst, weather events to hit the northeast. The sheer size and power of the storm have been unmistakable and the devastation wrought by a 1,000-mile wide storm is lost on no one. Long Beach Island NJ was not sparred damage from this "superstorm". Hurricane Sandy brought a storm surge that created a measured 5-6 feet of water in Beach Haven.
Long Beach Island experience major power outages and lost water supplies. For those on Long Beach Island who chose not to leave, conditions will be difficult, to say the least. Sand has covered the roads making travel near impossible and serious damage was brought to the main bridge.
