Long Beach Island (LBI) Bay Beaches

LBI Bay Beaches

Bay Beaches on Long Beach Island

LBI is a 18 mile long barrier island off the southern coast of New Jersey. Being a barrier island, Long Beach Island, or LBI as it is known locally, has both ocean and bay access. LBI Bay Beaches offer a nice alternative to the ocean in many ways. Bay beaches are generally protected by lifeguards, as are the ocean beaches, but the water is calmer and usually a few degrees warmer than than the ocean. This can make for a great introduction to the "salt water lifestyle" for young children and toddlers.

LBI Bay Beaches

Below is a list of Long Beach Island bay beaches running north from Barnegat Light to Holgate on the south end of LBI:

  • Barnegat Light Bay Beach 25th St. & Bayview Ave

  • Harvey Cedars Bay Beach 75th Street and the Bay

  • Surf City Bay Beach 16th St. and Barnegat Avenue

  • Ship Bottom Bay Beach 14th Street and Bay Terrace

  • Bayview Park Bay Beach 68th St. & Long Beach Blvd (through the wood fence)

  • Beach Haven Terrace Bay Beach West Pennsylvania Ave/ West New Jersey Ave and Bayview Ave

  • Beach Haven Bay Beach Taylor Avenue at the end of the parking lot behind Bay Village

  • Holgate Bay Beach Joan Road and Bay Terrace

Each of these bay beaches will offer different amenities. Most will have a dedicated swimming area that is fenced in. Some offer playgrounds and public restrooms. All of them offer stunning sunsets so be sure to come back and see what those famous LBI sunsets are all about.
