Rainy Day Activities on Long Beach Island, NJ
While Long Beach Island is known for its sunny, beach-filled days, rain can sometimes make an appearance during your vacation. But don't worry—there are plenty of activities to enjoy on LBI, even when the weather isn’t cooperating. From indoor entertainment to exploring the island’s culture and history, there’s something for everyone to do, rain or shine.

Viking Village
Viking Village is a collection of small beach themed stores and dining establishments located in Barnegat Light next to the fishing fleet. There are a mix of indoor and outdoor stores but you can stay dry and still shop while it rains on LBI!
Climb the Lighthouse
While most of Barnegat Light State Park is outdoors climbing the lighthouse is entirely indoors so it is a great rainy day activity on Long Beach Island.
Maritime Museum
Also located in Beach Haven, the Maritime Museum is a large display of local seafaring and maritime exhibits from all over New Jersey and of course, Long Beach Island.
Beach Haven Historical Museum
Take in a little local history and learn about the past in the Long Beach Island Historical Museum located by Bicentennial Park in Beach Haven. There are a number of exhibits and lots to see and do. As a side note, they also are a great wedding venue! You can learn a little about Long Beach Island and pass a rainy day here.
Visit the Water Park
You are going to get wet anyway! So long as there is no risk of thunder or lightning the water park can be a fun day outside even when it rains on Long Beach Island. There are covered areas to watch all the fun and refreshments are available as well.
Fantasy Island
Fantasy Island has a large indoor arcade with the latest and greatest games. While it is a must see for any vacation on LBI, it certainly comes in handy on a rainy day! It is also nearby Schooner's Wharf and Bay Village making it a fun rainy day activity on LBI.
Schooner's Wharf and Bay Village
Schooner's Wharf and Bay Village are the premier shopping locations on LBI. Here you will find a great mix of stores and restaurants. While there are many outdoor areas, most of the stores are indoor so you can stay dry and entertain yourself when it rains on LBI!
