Fiberglass Pools in the LBI Real Estate Market

There are two main pool types found in the LBI real estate market. They are fiberglass and gunite. Compared to a gunite pool, a fiberglass pool will usually be significantly less money which can be a big incentive. Fiberglass pools also offer a relatively easy installation since the pool is formed off-site and dropped into place. Fiberglass pools come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Usually, they provide little to no customization other than the ability to add a color (the standard base color is typically white). We see the most common sizes we see installed range between 8.5 feet to 12 feet in width and 17 feet to 25 feet in length. Most of these pools are about 4-5 feet deep. Fiberglass pools do have some negatives, however. Over time, the fiberglass can wear out, which may lead to a leak occurring. These pools can also lift if not installed correctly. This is especially true in areas that are more prone to flooding. The installation method is essential to limit a fiberglass pool’s movement, so understanding who installed the pool and the company’s reputation is critical. Since a fiberglass pool is so common, buyers often expect to see this type of pool used and view a gunite pool as an upgrade. Having a fiberglass pool can add a great deal of value to a home in the LBI real estate market, and it is an investment that is usually well worth doing. Most new homes being built today for resale in the Long Beach Island real estate market will include a fiberglass pool.
