Choosing the right pool on Long Beach Island can have a significant impact on your enjoyment and the investment. Pools in the LBI real estate market are becoming more and more common. Working in tandem with this is a slight reversion to a non-reversed living design with the focus being put on the back yard of a house. While lot size has always been one of the most contributing factors in the LBI real estate market, with pools becoming so popular, it is more important than ever. The types of pools most often used in the Long Beach Island real estate market are:
- Fiberglass pools
- Gunite pools
- Saltwater filtration

Choosing the Right Pool on Long Beach Island
The two most common types of pools on Long Beach Island are fiberglass and gunite. Fiberglass is more the norm for the lower price and the ease of installation. A fiberglass pool is essentially a shell that is installed into a prepared hole in the yard. A gunite pool is a type of blended concrete that is sprayed onto a steel framework. While more expensive, it is a better method of construction and allows for far more design flexibility. The cost of a gunite pool is also much higher than its fiberglass cousin and for this reason alone, many homeowners and buyers opt for the fiberglass option. Pools are typically treated with either chlorine or saltwater. A saltwater pool is pretty much the standard these days and has many advantages over chlorine. While technically not salt water, this type of filtration does use less chemicals and feels better on your skin.
